SleepApneaHomeTest exists to make accurate sleep apnea screening and diagnosis accessible to anyone who suspects they may have the condition. Every clinical claim, treatment recommendation, and diagnostic explanation on this site is reviewed by a board-certified sleep medicine physician. We do not publish medical content that has not been credentialed.
Full Bio
Joshua P. Roland, MD, FAASM, is a board-certified sleep medicine physician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, completed his residency in Family Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine, and pursued his fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Roland previously served as an Assistant Professor at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, where he practiced sleep medicine and conducted research on sleep disorders. He continues to see patients clinically through UCLA Health and maintains affiliations with Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Huntington Hospital.
He served on the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s task force that developed the 2023 clinical practice guidelines for the management of REM Sleep Behavior Disorder, and is a former board member of the California Sleep Society. His peer-reviewed work has appeared in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, Drugs & Aging, and Clinics in Chest Medicine, including first-author and co-author publications on insomnia in Alzheimer’s disease, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, and REM Sleep Behavior Disorder.
Dr. Roland currently serves as Medical Director at Dreem / Sunrise Sleep and as Chief Medical Officer at SleepDev Inc. He is an active medical reviewer for sleep content at HelpGuide.org, a Harvard Health Publishing partner, and contributes to the National Council on Aging Adviser and Healthier Sleep Magazine, the consumer publication of the World Sleep Society.
